Guy Emmet Trotter, 88

Guy Emmet Trotter died peacefully at home on Feb. 24, 2011, surrounded by his family. Born in 1922, he was raised and educated in Seattle, Wash., and graduated from Seattle University in 1949.

He married Helen Panattoni in 1942 and recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of active duty having served in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Following his Naval career, he spent 12 years in the Lewiston Clarkston valley where he was an editorial columnist for 10 years for the Lewiston Morning Tribune as well as an instructor at Walla Walla Community College. He sang on the radio in Seattle as a young man and was an active member of the Lewiston Civic Theatre.

For the past eight years, he has resided with his wife in Coeur d'Alene and was an active communicant of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He was a member of the Military Officers Association of America, the Disabled American Veterans, the Catholic War Veterans, the National Rifle Association of America and Kiwanis International.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; sons Robert (Anita) of Seattle and Thomas (Kathleen) of Coeur d'Alene; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at St. Joseph's Church in Seattle.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Pius X Church in Coeur d'Alene or Hospice of North Idaho.
