Margaret Sophia Smith, 96, resident of Post Falls, passed away Feb. 27, 2011. She was born July 22, 1914, in the village of Mapleton County of Blue Earth, Minn., to Ann Rhinehart and Archibald Buck.

Margaret married Albert James Smith on July 16, 1938. They moved from North Dakota to Idaho in 1960 where they resided with their family of five children until Albert passed away on Sept. 8, 1982.

Margaret attended Falls Christian Assembly Church, volunteered at the senior thrift store, lived at the senior apartments for 25 years and had many friends at the Post Falls senior center. She loved her family, her dog Cuddles, gardening, puzzles and sitting in the sunshine.

Margaret is survived by one sister, Mazel Gartner of Auburn, Wash.; her five children, Arthur Smith of Post Falls, Leonard (Ruth) Smith of Spirit Lake, Donna Roberts of Post Falls, Sharon (Dennis) Hiatt of Post Falls and Wayne (Rosie) Smith of Sagle; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret has lived at By the Lake Assisted Living for the past three years. We would like to thank for all the love and care they have shown our mother and her family. We also would like to thank Auburn Crest Hospice for their love and care.

She will be greatly missed by many, as she goes to be with God and her husband Albert.

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls. Funeral service will also be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel, with a reception to follow.
