William Clifford 'Bill' Caywood, 69
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 13 years, 10 months AGO
William Clifford "Bill" Caywood, 69, left this earthly plane on Feb. 26, 2011, from complications of COPD. He was born Jan. 13, 1942, in Wichita, Kan., to Vernon and Louise (Cathey) Caywood. He grew up in Kansas and Arkansas and Riverside, Calif. Bill had a full and interesting life.
He married Geri (Joseph) in the '60s and they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Shelly and Wendi. Bill enjoyed driving big rigs and delivering new homes for people. He also worked as an insurance adjuster and was incredibly detail oriented and thorough.
In the '80s he married Lynda (Peterson) and they followed the crows to Post Falls where they have worked and played for 20 years. From Lynda, Bill inherited adult children Tim, Kateri and Terrie and loved them like his own.
He had a knack for figuring out how things were supposed to work and why they didn't. He could fix anything. He was a perfectionist in all his repairs and projects. Bill was very talented in so many arenas, he made silver jewelry and built a stone hearth, decks and beautiful railings. He was a rock hound since childhood and usually had a rock or two in his pocket. He cut and polished rocks and gemstones as a hobby.
Bill was a very longtime friend of Bill W. and his large circle of friends.
Bill may or may not have had Native American blood in his veins (no one knows for sure), but he had Native American in his spirit. He was drawn to the spirituality of the native people and was comforted and strengthened by the music of drums and flutes. His favorite places to be were talking in the desert or at a powwow.
Bill has journeyed ahead of his wife, Lynda; children Shelly and Kevin Treen, Wendi Caywood, Tim and Pam Picard, Kateri and Trey Ray, and Terrie and Doug Harsh. He was gifted with 13 grandchildren: Heather, Brittany, Brooke, Steven, Sara, Tim Jr., Barbara, Samantha, Sommer, Jamie, Dakota, Rich and Hope; and four great-grandchildren: Eathan, Veronica, Lilly and Will. Whew! Also, brother Bob; sister Linda and special cousin Bette.
Yes his life was full and interesting. He left holes in our hearts and an empty chair in the drumming circle.
There will be a celebration of Bill's life at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene. All are welcome.
