Chiefs storm Oregon, finish second at invite

BEAVERTON, Ore. - Happy almost-New Year Moses Lake Chiefs wrestling.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the Chiefs took part in the team dual, West View Invitational in Beaverton and came away with a second-place finish.

The first day saw Moses Lake storm through preliminary round action, beating Oregon schools, Tualatin 70-0, David Douglas 50-20, and Sunset 63-6 in succession.

Yesterday, the Chiefs battled through four dual matches in the championship bracket and cruised past Century 62-3 in the first round, Aloha 63-10 in the quarterfinals, and Cascade 49-18 in the semifinals.

In the team's final dual the Chiefs couldn't complete the sweep of Oregon as they lost a nailbiter 37-36 to Newberg to wrap up a 6-1 performance at the tournament.

No other information was available at press time.

The Chiefs return to action on January 8.
