F. Derald Drinkard, 74

F. Derald Drinkard, 74, passed away peacefully on Jan. 1, 2011, in his home with his partner and family by his side.

Derald is survived by his partner of 48 years, Gary Ayers; his two daughters, Dawn Toelken and Lisa (Jim) Carothers; his three grandchildren; one brother, Dennis (Karin) Drinkard; and one sister, Darlene (Larry) Sannes.

Derald was a creative soul and worked in many fields of design. His true passion was for gardening, creating tranquil surroundings for all to enjoy. He was born in Spokane, Wash., on Jan. 14, 1936. He spent many summers at his family's cabin on Loon Lake. During his life, he and Gary lived in Sandpoint as well as Washington's Long Beach Peninsula, recently returning to Spokane to be near family.

His family will greatly miss his companionship, humor and love. At his request no service will be held.
