Timberlake High School hosted the Miller’s Harvest Foods basketball tournament on Dec. 28 and 29.
Participating schools included Bonners Ferry, East Valley, Clark Fork and Orofino.
The Badger boys varsity played against Orofino winning 76 to 45 in the first game.
High scorers were Mat Evans had 18 points, Alek Lopez with 13, and Justin Everhart and Alex Awbrey came in with 11 points. Other scorers were Josiah Owinyo with 6 points, Garrett Skeen had 4, Zack Ray came in with 2, Cameron Woods gave 7 points and Zane Peycke had 4.
“In both games we had strong first halves,” said Badgers coach Clint Arthur. ”We led Orofino 47-19 at half-time, but played flat in the second half.”
The second game was dropped by the Badger boys varsity to East Valley 53 to 43.
High scorers for the Badgers were Mat Evans with 15 points and Evan Moe with 13.
“Against East Valley, We led 28-27 at the half, but we only scored two points in the third quarter,” Arthur said. “We didn't execute well and took some poor shots. Also, we didn't score enough in transition in the second half of the East Valley game, and we struggled with their size on the defensive end.”
The varsity Badgers play next at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 10, at home against Lake City jv.
