Emerson leads C-Falls over Eureka

COLUMBIA FALLS - Nick Emerson scored a season high 24 points to pace Columbia Falls to a 77-27 nonconference boys basketball victory over Eureka on Thursday.

Emerson, who had three dunks in the contest, was 10-for-15 shooting from the field and went 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Emerson has scored 19 or more points four times this season.

"He also had zero turnovers playing the point guard spot for us," Columbia Falls coach Cary Finberg said.

"Overall, his best game. He was every efficient, he let the game come to him."

Parker Johnson and Austin Barth also finished in double-figure scoring for the Wildcats with 12 and 10 points respectively.

Columbia Falls (5-0) had 11 players score and 15 saw action.

"It was a good first game out of the break," Finberg said.

Columbia Falls outrebounded Eureka 29-20 with Barth pulling down eight and Johnson six.

Bryton Guckenberg led Eureka in scoring with 11 points.

The Wildcats travel to Libby today for a 7:30 p.m. Northwestern A contest. Eureka plays at Plains at 6 p.m.

Josh Bray and Josh LeGassey combined for 28 points and the Cougars cruised past the junior-varsity Bulldogs at home on Thursday.

Bray and LeGassey each scored 14 points apiece, Trent Burton had 10 and Trevor Holladay added nine for Stillwater (7-1 overall).

Logan Harwood paced Whitefish with nine points.

EUREKA - Kayla DeWit scored 26 points to lead the Wildkats to their first win of the season.

Columbia Falls (1-4 overall) jumped ahead 28-10 by halftime and cruised from there. Jonna Werner and Danielle Gilley each had six points.

Mikayla Grove scored nine for Eureka (1-6).

Columbia Falls hosts Libby tonight at 7:30 p.m. Eureka travels to Plains on Saturday.
