Martin Peter Suter, 65, of Post Falls, passed away in Seattle, Wash., at Harborview Medical Center on Jan. 3, 2011. Martin was found unconscious in his home by a friend, on Dec. 29, 2010, and was flown by Medevac to Harborview Medical Center where he never regained consciousness.

Martin was born July 17, 1945, in County Durham, England, where his father, Peter Walter Suter, was serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force. After the war ended Martin accompanied his mother, Mary Doreen Suter, to Canada aboard the Queen Mary. The Suters settled in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada, where Martin's father, Peter, was an Indian agent.

In 1961, the Suter's immigrated to the United States, initially to Spokane, Wash., where Martin attended University High School. In 1966 Martin enlisted in the U.S. Army and served a three-year enlistment. After receiving his honorable discharge, Martin attended Kenneth Hagin Bible College, Broken Arrow, Okla., where he was ordained as a minister. In the late 1970s Martin returned to North Idaho where he worked primarily as a long-haul truck driver.

Martin is survived by Mary Suter, mother; Carol and George Carter, sister and brother-in-law of Coeur d'Alene; nieces, Nicole Perrone of Las Vegas, Nev., and Stephanie Perrone Freeborg, her husband Adam Freeborg and great-nephew Grant Freeborg of Austin, Texas.
