Cougars teams capture Schmunk championships

WARDEN - On Saturday, both the boys and girls wrestling teams defended their home mat in capturing Schmunk Tournament titles.
Warden's boys captured the crown with a score of 233.5 to outdistance Connell's 186 and Kittitas' 161.
Individual weight class winners were, J.P. Martinez (119-pounds), Sam Suarez (145-pounds), and Matt DeLeon (285-pounds).
Cougars that finished as runners- up Javier Tapia (112-pounds), Carlos Gomez (125-pounds), Ernesto Orozco (130-pounds), Scott Henderson (135-pounds), Hector Camacho (152-pounds), Hugo Rodriguez (189-pounds), and Gerino Luna (215-pounds).
The girls team won with 132 points ahead of Othello who scored 67 points and Royal 39 points.
Deianeria Caudle (103-pounds), Melissa Vasquez (112-pounds), Bianca Hernandez (125-pounds), Taylor Edson (135-pounds), and Carter Marks (160-pounds) all took the title in their respective weight classes.
"Both teams are wrestling well, we are putting the final touches on our post season line up, and most everyone is now at post season weight," Warden boys head coach Rick Bowers said. "We are showing the overall depth that will carry us into the post season."
