Violet 'Vi' Grace Andrews, 94

Vi Andrews passed away quietly Tuesday, Jan, 11, 2011, at Heritage Place in Kalispell.

Vi was born Aug. 2, 1916, in Logan, Mont., to Charles Albert Hinote and Eva Etta Cudney.

Vi was a devoted wife and mother of eight children. She married her dear husband, James Robert Andrews, in Missoula on Sept. 16, 1934. They lived in Lonepine, and raised all of their children there.

Vi was known far and wide for her baking and everyone looked forward to “bread and pie baking day.” She had great talent for decorating, gardening and knitting, and shared with all her friends and family. She loved working at the Hot Springs hospital caring for newborn babies, and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary for many years.

“She returned home to a loving Heavenly Father and her dear husband Jim” who passed away April 4, 1999, after 65 years of devotion to each other. She was also preceded in death by brothers, John and Charles Hinote; sister Anita Lohner; sons, James Andrews Jr., and Johnnie Lee; and great- grandson, Brett Alan Schaffer.

She is survived by two sons, Colin and wife Kathy, and Bill and wife Kitty; four daughters, Dore’ and husband Darold Schaffer, Anita and husband Mike Friedrich, Carol and husband Tom Gillespie, and Wendy and husband Tim Heffernan. Vi also leaves 21 grandchildren, Kevin and Jeff Andrews, Julie Jones, Gina Lapka, Greg Schaffer, Zonda Perry, Rob Schaffer, Diana Sims, Colin Lee and John Patrick Andrews, Kim Amundson, Tina Larson, Dessiree Jafrello, Heidi Linelach, Natalee Charlton, Cheree Burgan, Tony Andrews, Mary Anne Green, Clancy Bras, Christine Deitsch and Cara Harris; 57 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She had requested no memorial services.
