Boyd “Pete” Leland Wolfe, “entered into the rest of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” on Jan. 10, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Pete was born in Pershing, Iowa, on Feb. 5, 1936, to Ted and Janet Wolfe. When he was 6 months old his family relocated to Whitefish. He graduated from Whitefish High School in 1957.
Pete served in the Army at Fort Ord, Calif., and was honorably discharged in 1964. After serving in the Army, he worked as a general laborer for many different construction projects in Montana and in other states.
He married Catherine Fredenberg on March 17, 1964.
Pete was an avid hunter and fisherman from the time of his childhood until just before his death. He loved staying active by being outdoors in the beauty of Montana. He built his own home in 1983 and found joy in maintaining it and doing yard work.
He was a dedicated attendee of Whitefish High School football and basketball games. In addition, he was a fan of the University of Montana Grizzlies.
He will be remembered for cherishing the simpler things of life, always having a smile for those around him and being a Good Samaritan to his family, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Janet Wolfe; his wife, Catherine Wolfe; his sister, Dixie Jenson; and his brother, Ted Wolfe Jr.
He is survived by his son, Kurt Wolfe, of Helena; a stepdaughter, Donna Hanson, of Portland; a stepson, Mike Fredenberg, of San Diego; a brother, Gerald Wolfe, of Whitefish; nieces, Norma Stidham of Kalispell, Gale Birgensmith of Whitefish, and Dawn Cuadras of Gilbert, Ariz.; nephews, Scott Wolfe of Whitefish, Brett Jenson of Temecula, Calif., Gary Wolfe and Benjy Wolfe, both of Whitefish, and Jody Wolfe of Houston; as well as many longtime friends that he considered like family.
A graveside service and celebration of Pete’s life will be held later in the spring.
