COEUR d'ALENE - With everything to gain and nothing to lose, the Lake City Timberwolves didn't want to have a letdown in their final regular season game at home.

Senior Jenna Lewis hit five 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 19 points as the second-ranked Lake City Timberwolves routed the second-ranked Lewiston Bengals 59-30 in a 5A Inland Empire League girls basketball game on Friday.

"Jenna's a great shooter," Lake City coach Royce Johnston said. "She's getting more comfortable on the floor and is really stepping up as a shooter. Tonight was a complete team effort and showed we can shoot the ball."

Lake City hit 12 3-pointers as a team, six coming in a 25-point first quarter to pull away.

"I told them coming into tonight this is the fourth quarter," Johnston said. "We've got to play to win and battle."

The two teams will face off again next Saturday in Lewiston at 12:45 p.m. in a game that could decide the top seed to the Region 1 tournament.

“We knew coming into tonight they weren’t at full strength,” Johnston said. “But we know we’ve got an advantage with the depth of our bench. It was a real team effort tonight.”

Tanis Fuller scored 13 points for Lewiston (13-3, 3-1), which travels to Post Falls on Thursday.

“I thought Lake City shot well and played good defense,” Lewiston coach Pat Teichmer said. “They played really well tonight.”

Lewiston point guard Karlee Wilson sat out Friday’s game with an ankle injury.

“We’re hoping to have our entire team back at full strength soon,” Teichmer said.

Lake City (14-3, 3-1) travels to Sandpoint on Tuesday.
