Helen Leota (Burk) Steinke, 91

Helen Leota (Burk) Steinke, 91, “went home to be with Jesus” on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at her residence in Kalispell.

She was born on May 23, 1919, at Ogalalla, Kan., the daughter of Ira and Esta (Battin) Burk.

She was united in marriage to George Steinke on Dec. 27, 1942, in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Helen enjoyed gardening, needle crafts, puzzles of all types, watching baseball and playing dominoes.

She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Helen was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Philip Steinke, in 1989; and her son, Robert Marion Steinke, in 2008.

She is survived by her daughter, Boni Steinke, of Portland; granddaughter, Amy Steinke, of Missoula; daughter-in-law, Jo Steinke, of Kalispell; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Helen will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Cutler officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. Burial will follow services at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
