Badger Men fall short against Sandpoint

The Bonners Ferry men could not find the answer to Sandpoint, resulting in a 62-64 loss to finish off the 3rd Annual Moose Madness activities in Bonners Ferry Saturday night.
The Badgers started the game off great in the first two minutes but went on a long scoring drought which allowed the Bulldogs to battle back. The Badgers went into halftime down 26-34.
The Badger remained outmanned in the third, loosing the scoring battle 13-21, but fought back in the fourth with an impressive effort outscoring Sandpoint 23-9. Varsity head coach Clint Arthur noted the effort, “We made a strong push in the fourth quarter by outhustling Sandpoint.”
Arthur continues “Our defensive effort made it tough on their shooters the entire quarter, and we held them to a game-low 9 points.” The Badgers rallied back, but the clock ran out and Bonners Ferry ended up two points short, losing the game 62-64.
Arthur commended the teams play saying, “Evans and Lopez shot well the entire night, providing over half of the 62 points between them. Everhart made some strong moves to the basket in the 2nd quarter, and Moe hit a couple of big threes in the fourth quarter. Also, Alex Awbrey and Josiah Owinyo both came off the bench and played extremely well.”

The Bonners Ferry varsity men’s basketball had an down and up week, suffering a tough 53-58 loss to Kellogg while finding the toughness to defeat Timberlake 66-58.

The men’s varsity basketball team could not find the keys to beat St. Maries this past Saturday afternoon, losing their final IML league game 54-67.

The Bonners Ferry women’s varsity basketball team came Tuesday night to celebrate their seniors, but they also came hungry for a victory. The Badgers ended up honoring the seniors with a 46-28 drubbing of St. Maries.
