The theme of the 52nd Whitefish Winter Carnival is “Carnival Marvels at the Comics.”
Jan 28-30 — World Champion Skijoring Competition, with open, sport and novice divisions. Registration and welcome at the Great Northern Brewery on Friday, Jan. 28, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Competition at the Whitefish Airport on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 29-30, from noon to 4 p.m. Spectator parking $5 per car. Calcutta betting at the Great Northern Bar on Saturday, Jan. 29, beginning at 6 p.m. Awards after competition on Sunday, from 6-9 p.m. at the Craggy Range. Jan. 28 - Feb. 11 — Art Walk, with artist’s works displayed at more than 30 merchants throughout Whitefish. Reception on Friday, Jan. 28, from 5-8 p.m. with guided tours from 5-6 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. starting at Stumptown Art Studio on Central Avenue. Maps guide strollers around town for displays. Feb. 4 — The Ball at Grouse Mountain Lodge with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and silent auction, dinner and live music beginning at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $50. Tickets available at Whitefish Chamber.
Feb. 4-6 — Whitefish International Hockey Tournament at Stumptown Ice Den on Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday morning. For more information, call 863-2477.
Feb. 5 — Kiddie Carnival at the Whitefish Middle School gym from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with games galore for the little ones.

Feb. 5 — St Charles Pie Social at St. Charles Catholic Church on Baker Avenue beginning at 1 p.m.
Feb. 5 — Grand Parade through downtown Whitefish, with the Grand Marshal leading floats, animal groups, dancers, drill teams, royalty and many more entries beginning at 3 p.m. To register and for more information, pick up an application at the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce office.
Feb. 5 — Yeti Snowskate Jam at Kiddie Park at Fifth Street and Central Avenue, with warm up and practice from 10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., deadline for registration and competitor check in at 11 a.m., competition for under-10 and beginners from 1-3 p.m., park closed for grooming from 3-4 p.m., warm up for intermediate, advanced and expert competitors from 4-4:30 p.m., competition for intermediate, advanced and expert categories from 4:30-7:15 p.m., and open Snowskate Jam for all competitors from 7:15-8 p.m. Button required. Feb. 5 — The Black Star Barter, a contest where people bring or do whatever they think is worth a year’s supply of Black Star beer, starts at 1 p.m. at Great Northern Brewing.
Feb. 5 — Winter Carnival Torchlight Parade and Fireworks Display at Whitefish Mountain Resort beginning at 7 p.m. Ski instructors and patrol ski down Ed’s Run.
Feb. 6 — Rotary Pancake Breakfast at the Moose Lodge from 8 a.m to 1 p.m. with eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, juice and coffee. Cost is $7.

Rehberg to attend rally for Jesus statue
Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg will attend a public rally in Whitefish on Nov. 10 in support of the World War II statue of Jesus on Big Mountain. Rehberg will be at the VFW Post 276 on Baker Avenue at 1 p.m.
