WILSON CREEK - Despite the play of the Lady Lions, Wilson Creek refuses to go away in the race for the North Central Washington 1B title chase.
On Tuesday night, the host Lady Devils used a big first quarter to hold on for a 38-30 win over Cascade Christian.
Wilson Creek (6-8, 6-1) led 12-3 after the first quarter of play.
"We pressed them with a zone and we shut them down," Wilson Creek head coach Charlie Pierce said. "They couldn't pass it then we pressured their shots. It wore us out so we backed off in the second half. We played probably the best we have all year it was a huge improvement."
Holly Wilson led Wilson Creek with 21 points, Breezy McVay added six points, and Tori Diamond sparked the defense with six steals.
"This was definitely a much different team than the one we saw in the first game we played," Pierce said.
