SANDPOINT — With the Bulldogs trailing the Hawks 39-33 heading into the final match of a 4A North wrestling dual Thursday night at Les Rogers Court, Kyle Csizmar (140 pounds) scored a clutch pin of Nick Wright at 2:49 to even the match, which the Bulldogs ultimately won 40-39 after the second tie-breaking criteria of most takedowns.
Garret Belgarde (119), Peyton Dillon (112), Josh Wren (171) and Justin Pepperdine also secured pins, and Mike Fowler (145) posted a convincing 8-2 win for the shorthanded Bulldogs, who had to juggle the lineup when Matt Lockey was injured at 215 pounds.
“With Lockey out that’s a 10 point swing,” said Bulldogs head coach Mike Randles. “Our guns were firing tonight and the other guys are coming along. We expected it to be close with Matt out.”
Sandpoint is at the Coeur d’Alene Invite on Saturday.
