WARDEN - Dominance continues for the Warden Cougars, who drilled visiting Kittitas 49-13 on Thursday night.
Warden earned three pins win from J.P. Martinez (119-pounds), Cesar Rangel (140-pounds) and Kenny Sullivan (160-pounds).
Other wins came via, Ramses Rodelo (112-pounds, 12-2), Carlos Gomez (125-pounds, 4-3), Sam Suarez (145-pounds, 6-4), Hector Camacho (152-pounds, 8-7), Hugo Rodriguez (171-pounds, 6-3) and with forfeits at 189 and 285 pounds.
Tonight's originally scheduled, traditional dual against Royal has been cancelled.
According to Royal officials a number of athletes are either ill or injured and thus the match, years in the running, will not take place.
"It has been a long time tradition of over 25 years for Warden and Royal to wrestle at the end of the season, primarily because the league championship was usually at stake," Warden head coach Rick Bowers said. "I cannot understand the cancellation. You put together the best team that you can and you compete. We were really looking forward to the match in front of a large home crowd."
Royal is currently a 1A school while Warden has dropped to 2B this season.
