Youth art workshop planned

POST FALLS - Three artists will lead the Painted Face Julyamsh Vision Seekers Youth Art Workshop on July 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center, 405 N. William St., in Post Falls.
U.S. Bank donated the JACC $1,000 to provide scholarships, making the event free. The workshop, limited to 30 attendees, is geared toward ages 10-14. Lunch will be provided.
Artists include: Andrew Morrison, mixed media; George Hill, sculpting with soapstone; and Bobbie White, beadwork.
The Coeur d'Alene Casino and Post Falls Community Foundation are also helping sponsor the event.

Other events with an American Indian theme are also planned at the JACC.
On July 15 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. an artist reception will kick off the More than Feathers contemporary art exhibition featuring the work of Ice Bear, George Flett and others. It is open to the public.
The show runs through Sept. 9 and the gallery is open from Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
On July 21 at 5:30 p.m. there will be an artist and buyer's reception before the Julyamsh Powwow.
During the powwow at the Greyhound Park July 22-24 there will be a Northwest American Indian art show and auction. The auction, a fundraiser for Shriners Hospitals for Children, is at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Registration starts at 2:30 p.m.
