Music, movie donations help Panida Scholarship

Most of us feel the need to go through our stuff at least once a year and clear out some of the old to make room for the new. Between now and July 27, if you get that opportunity to lighten up your load, the Panida would happily accept your donations.

The theater needs a broad range of styles and genres - used and unused - CDs, records, videos, DVDs and any other media you might want to let go of.

Each year on the Saturday during Crazy Days - this year it's July 30 - the Panida sets up its Music and Movie Swap & Shop, "Play It Again, Panida," on the sidewalk in front of the theater to sell these recycled items to others who do have an interest in listening to, or watching, them.

The proceeds from this annual event go to the Laurel Wagers/Panida high school scholarship for a deserving student interested in pursuing a career in any aspect of the performing arts - music, theater, film or dance.

This year's scholarship recipient is Sandpoint High School graduate Rachel O'Connor who intends to pursue a career in music at Whitworth University in Spokane.

To make this event work, and grow the scholarship funds, please remember to set aside any of those still-usable, not-too-tired recordings and films and then drop them off at the theater next time you're downtown, during weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. If possible, please call ahead at 255-7801 or contact Sale Chairman Steve Garvan at 265-7296. We will work with you if you need the items to be picked up.

The Panida is happy to acknowledge the donations in writing, as needed. Please mark your calendar for July 30 at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at which time you can come score some goods for a great community cause and find unique treasures at wonderfully low prices.
