Loggers take two from Lakers

The visiting Libby Loggers wrapped up the conference regular-season title in Class A American Legion baseball play Wednesday with a sweep of the Kalispell Lakers.

Libby rallied from a 3-0 deficit to win the opener 5-4 and followed with a 7-4 triumph in the nightcap.

The Loggers are 14-0 in league play, 32-18 overall. It was their third title in the last four seasons.

Libby concludes regular-season play with a home doubleheader on Friday starting at 4:05 p.m. versus the Glacier Twins. The finale is Sunday in Eureka with another doubleheader with the Kootenai Valley Rangers, starting at 1 p.m.

Libby had 17 hits against Kalispell. Andrew Haggerty and Alex Cislo led the attack in the first game with two hits apiece.

Justyn Mack led the way in the second game, going 3 for 4.

Jake Johnson was 2 for 3 in the finale for Kalispell.

"In the first game, we had a lot balls that were hit hard right at people," Libby coach Kelly Morford said.

"The Lakers made some great plays. Their center fielder Jake Johnson made numerous great plays that kept us in check offensively."
