POLSON — In district court last week, a Pablo man pleaded guilty to sex crimes against a minor — crimes that police were alerted to when the defendant walked into a police station and declared himself a “sexual predator.”

According to the case affidavit, in May of this year, 33-year-old Conan Louie went to Tribal Law and Order to confess his crimes. After being Mirandized, Louie told an officer that over the preceding eight months he had made sexual contact, a number of times, with a child under 13 years of age.

Louie told law enforcement officials that the contact included touching and fondling and “stated that he was sick, needed help, and had touched the victim in inappropriate ways on seven occasions.”

Based on that information, the state charged Louie with a sex crime; they have since entered into a plea agreement that sentences Louie to 60 years in prison.

The agreement stipulates that the state will request none of the jail time be suspended, but allows the defense to request 20 years be suspended. According to the plea agreement, Louie must also write a sincere letter of apology to his victim.

Should he be paroled, the defendant will be required to pay for, and wear, a GPS monitoring bracelet.

Sentencing is set for August 25, 9 a.m. Until then, Louie remains incarcerated in the Lake County Jail.
