MOSES LAKE - A trio of Grant County students are headed to Wyoming.
Brock Streeter, Almira/Coulee-Hartline High School, Wade Kane, of Wilson Creek High School, and Cody Jess, of Coulee City, have all qualified for the 63rd Annual National High School Finals Rodeo in Gillette, Wyo.
Streeter was recently named to the Washington State High School Rodeo team and will compete in tie down roping, team roping and saddle bronc riding during the week-long event.
In addition to qualifying for the finals, Streeter was named Washington state's 2011 All-Around Cowboy.
Kane heads to the Cowboy State as the 2011 Washington State High School Rodeo Association saddle bronc riding champion.
Jess partners with Streeter in team roping. The pair finished third at the state finals in June in Coulee City.
The first go-round of the finals begins July 17. The final, and richest, go-round is Saturday, July 23.
The National High School Finals Rodeo offers 1,500 contestants from 41 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia the opportunity to compete for more than $500,000 in prizes and college scholarships.
To qualify for the Saturday night final, competitors must finish in the top 20 in two, or more, go-rounds.
Contestants also have a chance to participate in a volleyball tournament, nightly dances, a talent contest, NRA rifle shooting, and Knowledge Bowl.
