SPOKANE - Randy Hymes caught a 34-yard touchdown pass in the back of the end zone from Kyle Rowley on the game's final play as the Spokane Shock stunned the San Jose SaberCats 63-61 in an Arena Football League game Saturday night before 9,680 at the Spokane Arena.

And, with Tulsa's 85-49 loss to Orlando, the win puts the defending AFL champion Shock (9-8) into the playoffs.

San Jose (7-10) had taken a 61-57 lead with 3.9 seconds left on an 11-yard pass from Mark Grieb to James Roe.

Spokane fell behind 21-6 in the first quarter, but tied the game at 55 on a 1-yard pass from Rowley to Hymes with 1:31 left.

A safety with 58 seconds left put the Shock up 57-55, but San Jose took the lead in the waning seconds.

Kyle Rowley passed for eight touchdowns for Spokane. Mark Grieb threw for seven TDs for San Jose, which whipped the visiting Shock 76-48 in the season opener.

Spokane wraps up the regular season Friday at Jacksonville.
