Dorothy June Phillips, 87, left her earthly body before sunrise on Saturday, July 16, 2011. "To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord." She died as a result of a stroke, and also had Alzheimer's disease.

Dorothy was born June 24, 1924, in Chicago, to Anna Mae Griffen and Earl McClintock. She was preceded in death by her parents; four of her siblings: Malcom, Doris, Ralph and Carol; her husband, Glen; and a son, Dennis (in May of this year.) She is survived by her brother, Bob McClintock, of Seminole, FL.; brother-in-law, Gladen Niemi, of Panama City, FL.; sons Glenn (Peggy) of Auburn, Wash., Bob (Bonnie) of Bonners Ferry, and Dave of Kellogg; daughters, Christine of Spokane Valley, and Cyndie (Tony) Bronowski of Coeur d'Alene; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and a nephew.

Dorothy was proud to tell everyone she was a "PK," Preacher's Kid. She was raised throughout Michigan and often went with her father to care and pray for the sick and dying. Her father, Earl, performed her marriage ceremony to Glen F. Phillips at the parsonage on Dec. 6, 1941 - the day before Pearl Harbor. The family moved from Michigan to Kellogg in 1961, so that Glen could work at Bunker Hill. When Glen retired, they moved to Spokane Valley, where Dorothy worked as a housekeeper at a nursing home. She spent her last years living at Life Care Center in Coeur d'Alene. The family is grateful to the staff at Life Care for making her last hears happy ones.

Dorothy never met a person that she didn't like. She loved clowns, telling jokes, and was known as quite a prankster. She also enjoyed gardening, and especially loved roses. Dorothy will be remembered for her sense of humor and her devotion to God, family, and friends. There will be a viewing held on Wednesday, July 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St. in Post Falls. A graveside service will follow the viewing at 1:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 2834 N. Spokane St., also in Post Falls. Please visit Dorothy's online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com
