Travis Davison will join an elite group next month with his induction into the Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

Davison, 37, is going in as Montana's Brazilian Jui-Jitsu Coach of the Year.

The ceremony will take place Aug. 13 in Grand Rapids, Mich., on the final day of a World Grappling Tournament. The tournament starts Aug. 12.

Travis Moore, president and director of Montana Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame selected Davison for his contributions and dedication to the sport.

"He has that genuine quality as a coach and a father and he brings that same general quality to his students," Moore said of Davison.

"That's what makes it work. Everyone respects him. He's a very good teacher."

Moore and John Paul Noyes of Big Sky Martial Arts were Montana's first two members to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. That was in 2004.

"I'm suppose to nominate someone every two years for induction into the Hall of Fame," Moore said.

"I haven't found anyone worthy (of this honor in previous years), but Travis is."

Davison moved to Kalispell from Oregon and trained and taught at Moore's USA studio in 2006. He opened Straight Blast Gym a year after that.
