• Coeur d'Alene High School students Kaylee Hatch and Alyssa Schmidt were awarded Skill Point Certificates at the National SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference held during the last week of June in Kansas City, Mo. Hatch and Schmidt's award was in the Promotional Bulletin Board category. Skill Point Certificates were awarded to high scorers in 86 occupational and leadership areas of competition at the conference. The National SkillsUSA championships attracted 5,600 students who participated in hands-on occupational skills contests coordinated and judged by industry leaders from businesses, trade associations and unions.

• Sophie McPhilomy, a seventh-grade student at Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy, was nominated by her teacher, Jeff Rigg, for recognition by the United States Achievement Academy as a student of excellence.
