K. Fred Lang, 89, passed away July 25, 2011, in Post Falls. Fred was born Feb. 2, 1922, to Jacob and Caroline Lang in Gackle, N.D. He was raised in Hayden and graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1940.

While in high school he joined the National Guard. After graduation he then joined the Army, serving in Australia and the Philippine Island area during World War II. His early trade after leaving the Army was body shop work and then an insurance adjuster, retiring in 1984.

His retirement goal was to visit the capital of every U.S. state. He and his wife Josephine accomplished this goal and met and made many new friends in their travels.

Fred and his wife moved to Post Falls to be close to their daughter, Kathy Roberts and husband Gary.

Fred is survived by his wife, Josephine; their daughters, Kathy Roberts and husband Gary of Rathdrum, and Waneta Redman of Detroit, Mich.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Redman; brother Clarence Lang and his parents, Jacob and Caroline.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, with a reception to follow.

Fred enjoyed life and people and leaves behind not only his family but many good friends. He will be greatly missed.
