Master pianist teaches at music camp

Glacier Symphony and Chorale’s Festival

Amadeus offers many opportunities to enjoy classical music in

Whitefish including the work of student musicians.

During the Festival, North Valley Music

School in conjunction with Glacier Symphony is offering Camp

Festival Amadeus for youth musicians.

The chamber music camp is for early

intermediate to advanced string, harp, clarinet and flute musicians

entering seventh through 12th grades. Campers participate in daily

small ensembles, an orchestra and a master class with the

opportunity for private lessons.

During the camp, acclaimed pianist

Roberto Plano will teach a number of piano students in a master

class. He is an internationally renowned concert pianist and has

taught classes at conservatories and universities throughout the

U.S. and Europe. The public is invited to watch the class on Aug. 2

at 4 p.m.

The same day from 5 to 6 p.m. Camp

Festival Amadeus students will perform in front of Piney Creek at

100 Central Avenue.

Camp students, ages 13-19, will perform

a free concert Aug. 5 at 12:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center.

The concert will showcase students work from the week. Students

will perform classical and traditional pieces in both an orchestra

and small ensembles.

The Festival begins its “A week of

Mozart and beyond” with a free open-air orchestra concert on

Sunday, July 31 at Depot Park. The park opens at 6 p.m. and music

begins at 7:30 p.m.

The Festival continues through Aug. 6

with concerts held every evening at 7:30 p.m. in the O’Shaughnessy

Center. Guest artists will perform at three chamber nights and two

full orchestra concerts.

Full week Festival Amadeus passes are

available for $130 adults, $120 seniors and $60 youth. Four concert

passes are available for $99 adult, $89 senior and $40 youth.
