Fun ... and educational

COEUR d'ALENE - The baby boomer generation was able to seek out help and guidance in nearly everything at the Young at Heart Expo at The Coeur d'Alene Resort on Wednesday.
The expo included helpful booths to free drinks and food, to an area of comfortable furniture for the crowd to lounge on.
"We try to give the baby boomer generation an opportunity to come in and see all the things that are out there to help them," said Andreas John, who was in charge of the whole expo. "We have American Seating and Mobility, a booth for vision, financial, living help and anything health related."
Not everything was serious though. Judging from the festivities going around and the many laughing and smiling faces of the visitors, you would think it was more of a fun get-together than an educational expo.
"They get free hors d'oeuvres, free admission, and we treat them like royalty," John said. "You want them to come to The Resort and have a great experience and learn something new while they are at it."
Liz Meekma and Jill Jaffray were among the many visitors at the expo that had a fun time and learned a few things while they were there.
"I'm happy I came to this, there was a lot of stuff I didn't know about," Meekma said. I especially found the American Seating and Mobility booth helpful and the magnifier booth where it helps you see things without your glasses."
Meekma and Jaffray can't wait till the expo comes around again.
"Of course we'll be back," said Jaffray. "Anywhere where there's free food and drink and you get to learn new things."
John emphasized that the expo was a place where people can go and get advice about things that they might have thought wasn't possible.
"We wanted to make it fun and entertaining but make it educational at the same time, and we I think we did just that," John said.
