CRESCENT BAR - Tom Harris, Bob Wells and Don McGinnis combined their efforts for a 160 to finish second in the May 11 Men's Day competition at Crescent Bar Golf Course.
That made them the winners of first prize. It was a day on which the teams finishing 2nd, 4th and 6th were rewarded.
The game was played in threesomes. Each man played his own ball, and the best two scores on each hole were carded. There was individual recognition for closest-to-the-pin (KP) on two holes and birdies.
Finishing fourth (second in this competition) was the team of Dave Hayes, George Phelps and Jack Quealy. They shot 168.
There was a tie for sixth place, effectively third. The team of Orlan Wood, Jerry Hoene and Denny Weber and the team of Bill Tarbox, Bill Sprague and Burt Lucas shot 172.
Winners of the KP contests were Don Demuth and Sprague. Demuth put his tee shot eight feet from the cup on hole No. 3/12. Sprague had a 12-footer at hole No. 5/14.
Demuth was the only player to make birdie, and did it early, on holes No. 1 and No. 3.
