TRAGEDY: Still waiting for justice

I am happy to hear that there are others upset about the true lack of justice that Ryan, Devon and their families have received. I was particularly upset by the fact that the people involved don't seem to really understand the true gravity of the situation.

As a parent, this has to be the most excruciating event to have to endure. But the heartbreak doesn't end there for these families. The fact that the people responsible for this haven't been charged and punished is truly upsetting. How many more people need to lose their lives before an example is made of Kade Laughlin and his cronies?

Mr. Laughlin is no stranger to the law. He has multiple excessive speed and/or alcohol related offenses under his belt. On March 8 he was sentenced for the DUI charge he incurred just hours after forcing Ryan's car off the road. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, was only credited with spending one day in jail and having to pay $582.50 in fines. Is that the cost for a night of drinking, fighting and terrorizing innocent people?

Our family cared for Ryan and we think of him often. He had tremendous potential, a good heart and an engaging disposition. There are many of us out there, people who were lucky enough to be involved in the lives of Ryan and Devon.
