He was born Feb. 24, 1923, in Coeur d'Alene, to parents Dorothy Shallis and Charles J. Seymour. He had one sister, Jean (Seymour) Lyons, who preceded him in death.

He graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1941 and enrolled at the University of Idaho. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 1942 and was stationed in the U.S. and Germany. He was discharged from military service in April 1946, and returned to the University of Idaho where he graduated in June 1949. After graduation he worked in Lewiston and Coeur d'Alene for the Internal Revenue Service, retiring from that agency in February 1978.

Upon retirement he and his wife of 65 years traveled in their RV for 17 years across the U.S. and Canada. He also enjoyed playing bridge, dancing, gardening and reading. He spent many hours volunteering with the Kootenai Medical Center Auxiliary.

He is survived by his daughter, Charlene Seymour, and husband Scott Clark; daughter Susan Seymour and husband David Montoya; son Rick Seymour and wife Kathy Seymour; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was cremated in New Mexico, where he resided for the past three years. His ashes, along with the ashes of his late wife Eileen, will be placed in the columbarium at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Coeur d'Alene at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011.
