Whitefish's Memorial Field smelled of wet ‘Cats and ‘Dogs on Monday night. No one cared as the crowd came out of the stands and gathered ringside during a soggy, raucous and rain-delayed Cat-Dog Smoker.

The annual boxing match pits Columbia Falls and Whitefish high school students against each other in a fundraiser for the Glacier Twins baseball team. This year, the ‘Dogs edged the ‘Cats in bouts 9-8, but they had help from two Kalispell fighters.

In the main event, Shawn Benton of Columbia Falls downed Madison McWhirter in a split decision.

Boxing was halted on a couple of occasions because of rain, but by the end of the night the rain had stopped.
