COEUR d'ALENE - Ransom Storm struck out 10 and took a no-hitter into the sixth inning of the first game, and Matt Cade hit a two-run single in the second game as the Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen defeated Sandpoint 9-1 and 8-6 in their North Idaho League opener on Tuesday at McEuen Field.

Storm had four walks in the first game and failed to allow a hit until a Tyler Gordon single broke up the no-hit bid.

"Ransom was getting stronger as the game went on," Coeur d'Alene coach Lloyd Duman said. "We've been working with him to stretch out his innings and he did a good job today. He was in control most the day and had them off balance."

Colin Comack and Jason Pattis each went 3 for 4 and Mitch Bevacqua drove in two runs in the first game for Coeur d'Alene.

Gordon hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning to pull Sandpoint (0-4, 0-4 NIL) within an 8-6 deficit in the second game.

Comack and Bevacqua had three hits apiece for Coeur d'Alene (9-3, 2-0), which hosts Prairie in a doubleheader tonight starting at 5 p.m.
