SELECT SOCCER

Coeur d'Alene Sting under-11 girls (Dupree): The Sting took first place at the 3 Blind Refs soccer tournament in Kalispell, Mont., last weekend, winning all four games by shutout.

The Sting beat Ravalli United 13-0. Abbie Ellison and Megan Drake each scored hat tricks, Lauryn Trueblood, Abbi Shrontz, RyLee Brown, Grace Kirscher, Kylie Frohlich and Marie Michalson each scored once. The Sting beat Polson FC 11-0. Erika Boifeuillet and Abbie Ellison each scored twice, and Megan Drake, RyLee Brown, Lauryn Trueblood, Acasia Vernon, Grace Kirscher, Kylie Frohlich, and Abbi Shrontz each scored once, with assists by Rylee Brown, Kylie Frohlich, Grace Kirscher, Kai Wellsandt, and Sevriana Yace.

The Sting beat the North Idaho Avalanche 6-0. Abbi Shrontz scored twice, and Kai Wellsandt, Grace Kirscher, Megan Drake and Sevriana Yace each scored once. Assists came from Marie Michalson and Rylee Brown. In the championship game, the Sting beat the Idaho Thunder 1-0 on a goal by Abbie Ellison in overtime.

Sting U11 girls (Engebretsen): The Sting took first place in Bracket A at the Three Blind Refs soccer tournament in Kalispell, Mont., last weekend.

The Sting shut out the Flathead Soccer Club 5-0, beat Spokane United 4-3 and beat the Sandpoint Strikers (Williams) 5-1 to reach the title game.

In the title game, Kaitlin Hunter and Anna Hilbert both scored twice and Annica Wilson scored once as the Sting beat the Missoula Strikers (Black) 5-1.

Sting U13 girls (Roop): The Sting settled for third place at the Three Blind Refs soccer tournament in Kalispell, Mont., last weekend.

The Sting beat the Kootenay Rovers 5-0, lost 2-1 to the Missoula Strikers (Furlong), then beat Glacier United 5-1 in the third-place game.

Sting U10 girls yellow: The Sting placed second in the 3 Blind Refs tournament last weekend in Kalispell.

The Sting beat the Flathead Soccer Club (Kalispel) 9-0 with two goals from Bree Torres and Tess McPhilomy. Single goals were scored by Eryn Ducote, Torrey Long, CeCe Cydell, Janessa Ingram, and Erika Skindlov. Bree Torres and Erika Skindlov had assists.

The Sting lost 7-3 to the Sting McCaw. Scoring for Team Yellow were Havalah Scott, Erika Skindlov and Janessa Ingram.

The Sting yellow beat the NSDSC Saints (Canada) 4-2. Erika Skindlov had two goals and one assist and Eryn Ducote and Janessa Ingram had one goal apiece.

The Sting finished up by beating the Missoula Strikers Black 8-3. Janessa Ingram scored four goals, Bree Torres added two and Erika Skindlov and Tess McPhilomy scored one each. Janessa Ingram, Erika Skindlov and Havalah Scott each had assists.

Sting U14 gold boys: The Sting finished fourth at the Idaho State Cup in Twin Falls.

The Sting defeated the Idaho Thunder 1-0 with an unassisted goal by Kade Murphree. The Sting beat FC Boise Spain 2-0 with goals by Alec Maldonado and Ben Schriger. The Sting played Xtreme (Idaho Falls) to a scoreless tie. Boise National FC defeated the Sting 2-0 in the semifinals. Boise went on to win the state title.

SWIMMING

CAST at Tri-Cities Invitational: A total of 18 members of the Coeur d'Alene Area Swim Team competed at the Tri-Cities Invitational last weekend in Pasco, Wash.

For many of these swimmers it was the first time this year competing in an outdoor 50-meter pool. The meet included 475 swimmers from Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.

Top-three finishers included Ben McNeil, Ryan Berksieker, Caleb Markowski and Cole Curtis in the 200 free relay. Gabe Markowski had two second-place finishes in the 100 breast and 50 back. Cole Curtis won the 50 breast, 200 IM,50 free and 200 free, and also had two second-place finishes in the 50 back and 50 fly. Micah Hudlet was second in the 50 fly and third in the 100 free. Bryce Kananowicz had two first-place finishes in the 800 free and 400 IM, and four second-place finishes; 200 free, 100 free, 400 free and 200 fly, and one third-place finish in the 200 breast.

SOFTBALL

Dry Ice: The Dry Ice 18-and-under fastpitch team won the gold division championship game at the Northwest Early Bird Tournament at Ramsey Park.

The Dry Ice lost 6-3 to the Northwest Ladies on Friday night. Nicole Cameron went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

On Saturday morning the Dry Ice beat Northwest Wildfire 10-4. Sammy Beamer pitched a two-hitter, and Tori Schuler went 3 for 3 with a home run, triple and RBI.

Later in the evening the Dry Ice beat the Washington Madness 9-5. Nicole Cameron pitched a three-hitter, and Amber Edwards went 3 for 4 as the Ice finished second in pool play.

The Dry Ice beat the Spokane Crash 3-0 in the semifinals. Sammy Beamer pitched a one-hitter, and Kendal Floch hit a two-run triple.

In a rematch, the Dry Ice beat the Northwest Ladies 8-4. Kendal Floch went 3 for 4 with a double and triple and five RBIs.

TRACK AND FIELD

Post Falls youth track camp: Youths in grades 4-8 as of this school year are invited to a track camp June 13-16 at Post Falls High.

Registration is June 13 from 8-9 a.m. Warmup and instruction will take place June 13, 14 and 15, with the camp culminating in a track meet June 16 beginning at 9 a.m.

Cost is $45 for the first family member and $20 for each additional athlete in the family. Cost includes T-shirt and daily snack.

Free breakfast in the Post Falls High cafeteria will be offered from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Free lunch will be offered in the cafeteria at 11:30 a.m.

All funds raised go to the Post Falls High School track and field program.

BASKETBALL

Boys camp at Post Falls: The Trojan Youth Competitive Camp, for those in grades 2-8, will be June 20-24 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Post Falls Middle School.

Cost is $85 which includes a T-shirt. Family discounts are available.

Girls camp at Post Falls: The Post Falls Lady Trojan Youth Basketball Camp, for those in grades 3-8, is scheduled for June 20-23 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Post Falls Middle School

Cost is $75; discounts for families are available.

Lewis-Clark State offers camps, summer leagues: The Lewis-Clark State College men's and women's basketball coaching staffs are offering a number of basketball camps for the summer, starting with the boys' high potential camp next week.

LCSC men's coach Brandon Rinta and women's coach Brian Orr will hold a number of camps through July 14 at the LCSC Activity Center and also put together summer league games for area high school players.

Online registration and a description for all camps and summer leagues are available at www.lcsc.edu/athletics/camps. At each, participants must supply their own gym shoes, workout clothing, and transportation to and from the Activity Center.
