Evelyn N. Smith passed away on June 7, 2011, at Creekside Inn in Coeur d'Alene. She was born in Spokane on Feb. 25, 1915, to Christian and Petrine Jorgensen.
She was raised on the family farm in Harrison along with her three sisters - Ethel, Clara and Vivian. She graduated from Harrison High School and went to work for Mary's Cafe in Osburn. She later worked for the Corner Drug in Kellogg. She married George K. Domijan on Dec. 19, 1939, in Kellogg. They raised three children - Carolyn, George and Diane in Osburn. She and her husband also ran a small grocery store - George's Market on Mullan Avenue in Kellogg. Her husband passed away in 1963. She later married Robert R. Smith of Kellogg in 1964. She also worked at the Shoshone County Treasurer's office in Wallace from 1967 until she retired.
She greatly enjoyed her retirement years with her husband Robert, family and friends. She loved traveling and gardening, but first and foremost her family was the most important to her. She will be greatly missed by her family and is survived by her three children: Carolyn Selbe and husband Robert of Billings, Mont.; George Domijan and wife Jennifer of White Salmon, Wash., and Diane Domijan of Coeur d'Alene.
She is also survived by her adopted daughter, Lora Atha of Coeur d'Alene; four granddaughters: Gail Bennett of Missoula, Mont., Connie Hollingsworth of Coeur d'Alene, Dana Huellemann of Billings, and Fanny Domijan of White Salmon, Wash.; six great-grandchildren: Brianna Bennett of Billings, Lee and Megan Hollingsworth of Coeur d'Alene, Shawn, Kristina and Alyssa Bassinger of Billings; one great-great-granddaughter Shelby Cox of Billings; her sister, Clara Hieronymus of Spokane; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents and sisters Ethel MacLennon and Vivian Hedlund.
The family is greatly appreciative of the loving care provided by Creekside Inn and Hospice during her final month of life.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Yates Funeral Home on Fourth Street in Coeur d'Alene. Funeral Mass will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2011, at St. Pius X on Haycraft Avenue in Coeur d'Alene, with graveside rites to follow at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Evelyn's name to Hospice of North Idaho, Kootenai Humane Society or American Cancer Society.
