Flag Day ceremony planned Tuesday

POST FALLS - Members of the honor guard from American Legion Post No. 143 will be accompanied by members of the U.S. Submarine Veterans of Farragut Base to honor the United States flag as part of Flag Day 2011.

The event is 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Kootenai County Idaho Department of Labor office, 600 N. Thornton St., Post Falls.

Members of the honor guard and submarine veterans will raise the flag and give a salute. The national anthem will also be sung as part of the event.

No RSVPs are required to attend. Tours of the labor offices will be offered on Tuesday to those who have not visited the building since its move to Post Falls.

Idaho State Button Show is June 24-25

Buttons collectors from around the Northwest will be attending the judging of competitive antique button displays on June 24 and 25 at the Best WesternCoeur d'AleneInn.

Thousands of buttons or works of art in miniature will be on display, featuring buttons from the 1800s to present day.

Members of the National Button Society and other state organizations are welcome to attend all events.

The show will be open to the public 6:30-10 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission $2.00.
