COEUR d'ALENE - She said he goes by "Nick," and he allegedly snatched her valuables while she was in the shower.
A Coeur d'Alene woman, in her late 20s, has reported stolen her 2008 Nissan Altima, $400 Blackberry cell phone and a pre-paid debit card loaded with $300, according to a police report.
She told Coeur d'Alene police she suspects it was "Nick" who stole the property, including the $18,500 car, and this happened just after she had given him a place to stay.
She described Nick as Caucasian (with a tan); approximately 30 years old; tall and slim; with long, dark blond hair; and he's from the Spokane area.
The two met at the Oxford House in Spokane, a recovery house for alcoholism and drug addiction.
She hadn't seen him for six months, and then the two bumped into each other in downtown Coeur d'Alene, she told police.
She could tell he wasn't doing too well and didn't have a place to stay.
On May 31, she allowed him to crash at her place, on the 400 block of North Portico Court.
The next day, she allowed him to borrow her vehicle to give a friend a ride.
She was pleased when he came straight back to the house after the errand, she told police.
Later, she took a shower, and when she exited her room, Nick had vanished, along with her keys, car, cell phone and debit card.
She called her cell phone multiple times, but it appears to be dead, she told police.
She had no contact information for Nick and doesn't know his last name.
He still has a house key and remote control to her garage, she told police.
