Idaho schools chief Tom Luna will have some high-profile help next week when he holds his first Students Come First Technology Task Force meeting in Boise.

Jeb Bush, Florida governor from 1999-2007, and Bob Wise, governor of West Virginia from 2001-2005, will give a presentation at 9 a.m. Tuesday to the 39-member task force.

Bush and Wise lead Digital Learning Now! This bipartisan initiative works to advance policies to integrate technological innovations into education.

The task force, chaired by Luna, is called for in the Students Come First education reforms passed by Idaho legislators this year. The group is tasked with studying and developing plans for high school students to use mobile computing devices, also called for in the legislation.

Once the State Board of Education determines the number of online courses for a graduation requirement, the task force also will develop implementation plans for the requirement.

The technology task force meeting takes place Monday and Tuesday. It will be open to the public and streamed live online via Idaho Public Television's Legislature Live at http://www.idahoptv.org/leglive/.
