Roy Halladay tossed seven masterful innings to become the first nine-game winner in the majors, and the Philadelphia Phillies held on to beat the visiting Chicago Cubs 7-5 Friday night.

Rockies 6, Dodgers 5: At Denver, Jhoulys Chacin pitched eight shutout innings and Colorado beat Los Angeles.

Braves 11, Astros 4: Freddie Freeman and Alex Gonzalez homered, leading Atlanta at Houston.

Brewers 8, Cardinals 0: Chris Narveson threw eight shutout innings and Milwaukee beat visiting St. Louis.

Mets 8, Pirates 1: Jose Reyes homered, leading New York at Pittsburgh.

Marlins 6, Diamondbacks 4: At Miami, Logan Morrison and Mike Stanton each hit a two-run homer and Florida beat Arizona.

Nationals 2, Padres 1: Michael Morse hit a two-run homer, leading Washington at San Diego.

Giants 3, Reds 2: Nate Schierholtz's RBI single in the ninth lifted San Francisco past visiting Cincinnati.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Red Sox 5, Blue Jays 1: Clay Buchholz allowed three hits over seven innings, leading Boston at Toronto.

Royals 4, Angels 2: At Anaheim, Calif., Melky Cabrera and Billy Butler homered, leading Kansas City past Los Angeles.

Yankees 11, Indians 7: Alex Rodriguez and Curtis Granderson homered, leading host New York past Cleveland.

Orioles 7, Rays 0: Jake Arrieta took a no-hitter into the sixth and surging Baltimore routed visiting Tampa Bay.

Athletics 7, White Sox 5: Scott Sizemore's three-run double in the ninth rallied Oakland at Chicago.

Rangers 9, Twins 3: At Minneapolis, Michael Young had three hits and three RBIs, and Texas beat Minnesota.
