MILESTONE BIRTHDAY

Ben Mitchell

80th Birthday

Ben Mitchell turned 80 this year with a SURPRISE birthday June 4, 2011, on their 57th wedding anniversary to Coeur d'Alene Native Barbara A. (Cartwright) Mitchell.

Ben's two younger sisters Margaret Allison, Marilyn Mitchell and niece Shelley Leonard came in from Wichita, Kan. His oldest son Robert (Carolyn) Mitchell hosted this great surprise at their home in Coeur d'Alene, with the arrival of Robert's son Kyle Mitchell from Rutherfordton, N.C. His second oldest son James Jay (Gloria) Mitchell attended with their son James Thomas and Tanner from Rathdrum. Their daughter Kathy attended with her daughter Sarah Mitchell and granddaughter Isabella Breitkreutz who helped with the surprise for their grandparents and G.G.Pa and G.G.Ma. Kathy's son Jeff Mitchell, was in attendance from Coeur d'Alene. Their oldest daughter Jeanne Day of Knox, Ind., could not attend since her husband Paul is ill in the hospital. Their children are Steve, Korban and Emily. Also in attendance were Walt and Linda Cartwright of Coeur d'Alene, Cartwright family and friends from the Coeur d'Alene area and Ben's former co-worker Jerry Carlson.

Happy birthday to my husband, to our dad, grandpa and great-grandpa! We LOVE YOU DEARLY and many more to come.

ANNIVERSARIES

Richard and Kathaleen Johnson

60th Anniversary

Richard "Jack" and Kathaleen "Kate" (Piersol) Johnson, of Rathrum, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 3, 2011. They were married on June 3, 1951.

Kathaleen worked at Y-J Foods and is now retired. Richard worked as a Federal Meat Inspector and is also retired.

Their children include: Jerry, Rathdrum; Tom, Athol; Steve, Rathdrum; Ann Marie Hasfurther, Reno, Nev.; Anthony, Miles City, Mont.; Dennis, Lewiston; Chanelle McIntosh, Rathdrum; Lorraine Wuolle, Cataldo; Rosanne Lee, Bonny Lake, Wash. They have 27 grandchildren and 8 1/2 great-grandchildren.

They plan to celebrate with friends and family at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

Wally and Nila (Stoddard) Krahn

50th Anniversary

Wally and Nila (Stoddard) Krahn, of Coeur d'Alene, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 25, 2011. They were sealed in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Idaho Falls Temple on May 25, 1961.

Nila worked at various occupations and is not retired. Wally worked as a cabinet maker and is also retired. They are longtime North Idaho residents since 1969.

Their children include Fred and Sheila (Krahn) Sharp of Hayden, Josie Krahn of Coeur d'Alene and Kevin Krahn (deceased). The have three grandchildren Sydney, Hayden and Shelby Sharp.

All family and friends are invited to attend open house from 6-8 p.m. today, June 11, 2011, at 9426 N. Finucane Drive, Hayden. Hosts are Fred and Sheila (Krahn) Sharp. The only gift they would love is the gift of your presence! Refreshments served.

Edwin and Gertrude Bush

50th Anniversary

Ed and Gert Bush will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on June 25, 2011, at 3 p.m. with an open house at their home, 1165 South Blue Creek, Coeur d'Alene.

Neighbors, friends and family are invited to help them celebrate 50 years together. No gifts please - just come.

Ed and Gert moved to Idaho in 1965 from West Virginia with two small children. Gert worked 41 years as an O.B. nurse for what is now Kootenai Medical Center. Ed worked for state parks putting campgrounds in North Idaho. He later had Bush fencing and after that started his own logging business.

They have five children: Clinton and wife Julie live in West Virginia with daughter Eliza Cecilia and husband Ken live in Spokane with son Robert, Cynthia and husband Guy live in Liberty Lake with sons Adam and Aaron, Nathanial and wife Bonnie live in Coeur d'Alene, Lisa and husband Scott live in San Diego, Calif.
