HAMILTON - Justin Wicka's first home run of the season ignited a 7-run, second-inning rally as Libby whipped the Bitterroot Red Sox 11-1 in Class A American Legion nonconference baseball play on Saturday.

Wicka's blast was to straightaway center field.

Wicka also turned in a solid outing on the mound, holding the Red Sox to just two hits in going the distance for his fifth victory of the season.

"Justin threw well in the first game," Libby coach Kelly Morford said.

"He threw a lot of strikes. The guys in the bottom of the order sprung us offensively."

The Loggers, however, could not pull off a doubleheader sweep as the Red Sox bounced back with a 7-2 win in Game 2.

Libby (15-12 overall) hosts the Mission Valley Mariners on Monday, 4:05 p.m.
