COEUR d'ALENE - A Coeur d'Alene woman Saturday afternoon plowed into a neighbor's downstairs apartment with her car.

"I'd much rather have run into my own house," Lisa Christenson, a resident of Ridgewood Terrace apartments at 1001 Emma Ave., said after the accident. She said she was not cited for the accident by police.

Chris MacKinnon, a US Bank employee, said he was at work when he received a call that someone had crashed into his place. Nobody was in his apartment when the accident occurred.

"The whole reason I moved into this (apartment) is because it's downstairs," he said. He didn't want his young daughter to have to go up and down stairs all the time, he said.

On the other side of the wall the car demolished was MacKinnon's entertainment center.

He said he had a TV, computer, stereo, and gaming equipment there, together worth thousands of dollars.

"Everything was going great today at work," he said.

Christenson said she feels terrible.

"That's a man's home," she said. She lives directly above MacKinnon.

Her 1996 Chevy Lumina was scratched up, but didn't sustain serious damage.

She said she was having problems with the car, which led to the accident.

The car was towed out and loaded onto a flat bed.

MacKinnon said he'd be staying with family.
