Fireworks fundraiser begins
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 14 years, 6 months AGO
The kickoff to the 2011 Marina Challenge, a Coeur d'Alene Chamber Community Fireworks Fundraiser, has begun.
Each year, the Yacht Club, Boardwalk, Silver Beach, Black Rock and Discovery marinas display a decorated, empty bucket waiting to be filled with contributions.
Those donations are collected by the Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce to support the community's Fourth of July fireworks display.
This charitable event, which sparks a friendly rivalry between the marinas, was called into action by Craig Brosenne, general manager for Hagadone Marine.
He said he is committed to the continued success of the Coeur d'Alene Community fireworks, and is one of many who want to maintain the display as one of the largest in the Inland Northwest.
The winner of the competition will receive the coveted Marina Challenge traveling trophy, as well as other prizes donated by area businesses.
To donate a prize for the Marina Challenge winner's basket and be mentioned on the Chamber Web site and Facebook, contact Diane Higdem, events coordinator at 292-1635.
The Coeur d'Alene Community Fireworks are funded by community members, and no matter how large or how small the donation - every penny counts.
The Marina Challenge is one of several ways people can help light up the skies over Lake Coeur d'Alene this July 4.
Donations can be dropped off at the Coeur d'Alene Press, at the Coeur d'Alene Chamber or mailed to Coeur d'Alene Community Fireworks, 105 North 1st Street No. 100, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814, attention Diane Higdem, or go to the Chamber's web page and click on donate at www.cdachamber.com
