Willis wins

Post Falls Duathlon

POST FALLS - Stephen Willis of Valleyford, Wash., was the overall winner of the 24th annual Post Falls Duathlon on Sunday in 1 hour, 31 minutes and 55 seconds.

The event consisted of a 5 kilometer run, 30K bike ride and another 5K run.

Meghan Faulkenberry of Colbert, Wash., was the top women's finisher in 1:39.17.

NHRA racing series

returns to Spokane

SPOKANE - The Spokane County Raceway will host the National Hot Rod Association Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series this weekend.

The event is one of six events in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Northwest Division, where drivers across the country earn points leading to division and national championships.

The Top Sportsman Series, Dragster Series and Motorcycle Series presented by Harley Davidson will also run also run in conjunction with the event.

Gates open at 8 a.m. on both days and qualifying and time trials are Saturday at 9 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car will have three qualifying sessions on Saturday.

Eliminations start Sunday at 9 a.m.

Lewiston 3-on-3 basketball

tourney set for July 9

LEWISTON - The annual Heat in the Street 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be held July 9 in downtown Lewiston in conjunction with Lewiston Crazy Days.

There are men's and women's divisions for all ages. The entry fee per team is $65 prior to June 25 and $75 after.

Check-in and late registration will be held on July 9 at 7:45-8:45 a.m. in front of the Diamond Shop in downtown Lewiston. Each participant will receive a free T-shirt and there will be awards to the first place team in each category. Each team is guaranteed two games and play will commence around 9 a.m.

The age group breakdown for each men and women division, are 10-and-under, 11, 12-13, 14-15, 16-18, women's open, and men's open. There also will be a 6-foot-and-under division and an age 30-and-over division for men.

Games are to 30 points or a 20-minute time limit (the 3-point line is in effect). Players call their own fouls if officials aren't present. Several other rules are in place.
