COEUR d'ALENE - Expect heavy traffic this weekend, but not the emotions that normally come along with it.

The Coeur d'Alene Downtown Association, in partnership with the North Idaho Classic Car Club, will be organizing the 21st annual Car d'Lane.

"There is every type of car and truck imaginable at the show," said Tad Leach, a member of the North Idaho Classic Car Club. "There is a car for everyone."

On Friday evening, the "Best Cruise in the Northwest" will go through downtown from 6 to 10 p.m., and trophies will be given for "Best Pipes" and "Best Flames."

Saturday, the "Show and Shine" will fill the streets with the classic cars from morning until late afternoon. Other trophies, along with "People's Choice," will be awarded at 4 p.m. that day at Fifth and Sherman.

Leach said Car d'Lane is one of two major fundraisers the car clubs hold and most of the money raised goes to local charities.

One of the featured cars will be a 1939 Cadillac LaSalle "C-Hawke" concept. The car is the only one of its kind in the nation. Owners Tad and Sue Leach are honored to be showcasing their car this year.

"It is a modern interpretation of the LaSelle, and I saw what Advanced Automotive Industries did with a previous car, and it was absolutely stunning," Tad said. "One thing led to another, and I jumped at the opportunity of buying this car."

The Leaches aren't new to the classic car industry though. This is the family's third such classic car. Sue Leach owns a 1953 commemorative edition Corvette and they also own a 1954 remodeled Buick Roadmaster.

Along with viewing the classic cars, visitors and participators alike will be able to play a hand in the Car d'Lane Poker Walk. Players will visit several businesses downtown and pick a card. Players visit up to seven locations selecting cards, and can then use them to make the best 5-card poker hand possible.

The Poker Walk is only $5 per entry and first place will be given $150, second $100 and third $50. Also this year, a $50 prize will be given to the player with the lowest hand.

If cards aren't your game, take a break from walking around the car show and go to the green space at Sixth and Sherman where there will be food vendors and live music by the kids from Coeur d'Alene Rock School. Also, don't forget to check out the car swap meet at 301 N. Sherman from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Car registration will be available at Peterson Family Foods beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday, until the start of the cruise.
