Sightings of fugitive don't pan out

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a U.S. Customs official who said local residents saw a man resembling fugitive David Burgert hitchhiking near Olney Loop in Olney Tuesday night. The man was dressed “like a scarecrow,” according to the report. Border Patrol residents later confirmed the man was not Burgert.
A vehicle similar to one believed to be driven by Burgert was reportedly seen parked near McWenneger Slough. It was not the vehicle law enforcement is looking for.
Two boys admitted to vandalizing a business near U.S. 2 East in Hungry Horse. The owner offered to drop charges if the boys paid $150 to replace what was damaged.
A couple returned to a restaurant on West Glacier to pay their bill after the owner reported they left without paying.
A dog bit someone on Foothill Road.
Deputies spoke to a woman after her daughter reported that she was “going crazy” outside a home on Three Mile Drive. The daughter was advised to get a protection order.
A woman was arrested for an outstanding warrant at a home on U.S. 2 East.
Drug paraphernalia was discovered by a parent in a teenager’s room on Woodland Avenue.
Someone damaged a candy machine and stole the “goods” at a business on Woodland Park Drive.
A delivery person reported being threatened on Park Street.
An employee at a business on West Reserve Drive was accused of stealing over the past month.
Firearms were reported stolen by a man on Newlin Drive in Marion.
An iPod and a GPS device were stolen from a vehicle parked near West Reserve Drive
Suspicious activity was reported on Trapline Trail near Columbia Falls where a caller said a strange man came to his house while his daughter was home alone and asked to come inside. Extra patrols were subsequently scheduled in the area.
A caller said two motorcycles were racing on Airport Road at up to 100 miles per hour Tuesday night.
The Kalispell Police Department received a report of harassment from a woman on Ninth Avenue West who said her ex-boyfriend was circling the block and shouting obscenities at her.
Two boys — ages 8 and 15 — were accused of being disorderly at a home on Ninth Street East. They left with their mother after a caller said they were spitting on someone and trying to fight.
A caller saw two teenage boys spray-painting a business on North Main Street. One of the juveniles was later cited and released for the vandalism.
Burglary was reported on Second Street West after a man returned home from a trip and found a broken window and evidence that someone had been inside.
Extra patrols were requested on First Avenue East North where teens were gathering around 10 to 15 parked vehicles. They were told to move along.
Six underage teens were believed to be intoxicated when approached after a traffic stop on Second Street West.
A man on Lambert Court said he was attacked by his intoxicated girlfriend when he took an alcoholic beverage from her.
A coffee pot was stolen from a residence on Sixth Avenue West.
