Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 15 years, 3 months AGO
Summer Arts for Youth sponsored by the Coeur d'Alene Arts Commission is offering classes.
Classes for ages 3-15 are held Tuesday through Thursday, June 21-23, June 28-30, July 5-7, 12-14. Registration fee is $30 for each 3-day, 2-hour class and includes all supplies.
Limited scholarships are available on a need basis. Classes are held at the Harding Family Center at 411 N. 15th St. The Pre-K classes are limited to 10 students and are $20 a class.
This year, writing and journaling have been added to the mix of classes. Students can celebrate the regional wildlife in Draw & Journal Animals, while drawing with author/illustrator Carol Muzik, an artist in residence through the Idaho Commission on the Arts.
One of the new programs this year is Young Writer's Camp, designed to offer students opportunities to explore free-writing, fun forms of poetry, nature observations, autobiographical sketches and short story development, regardless of their skill levels.
Other classes not yet filled are basic guitar, drawing and painting, perspective drawing and pirate school.
Brochures can be picked up at Harding Family Center, Burt's Music and Sound, Art Spirit Gallery, Angel Antiques, Borders Books, Creative Element, and in the tract racks at the Coeur d'Alene City Hall, Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce, and Coeur d'Alene and Hayden libraries.
