It's been a long-time coming.
Glacier held off a late ninth-inning rally on Wednesday to knock off the Missoula Mavericks 10-8 in Class AA American Legion baseball play.
It was the first victory for the Twins over the Mavericks since 2007. According to the Missoulian, the Mavs had won the last 16 meetings.
"A great win for the team," Glacier coach Lindsay Fansler said.
"We feel if we can string some wins together, we can put ourselves in a position to get to the state tournament. We just have to take it game-by-game."
Earlier this month, the much-improved Twins beat the rival Kalispell Lakers for the first time in at least three years.
Missoula scored two runs in the ninth to close within two, but relief pitcher Carl Talsma struck out the final two Mavs with the bases loaded to end the contest.
Zach Maassen pitched the first seven innings with Glacier up 9-6.
Glacier pounded out 13 hits, led by Talsma, 3 for 3, and Devyn Rocker, 3 for 4. Talsma doubled and Rocker had a triple to go with four RBI.
Glacier (2-4 league) plays the Mavs again today at 5 p.m. in Missoula.
